We all have faith. We have confidence that certain things will happen. The Biblical kind of faith is in God's ability to accomplish various things.
In Mark 7:24 a woman from Syrian Phoencia had a daughter who was possessed by an evil spirit. Jesus at first did not want to heal her because she was not a Jew. But her faith was a persistent kind. Even though Jesus said, "It isn't right to take food from the children and trow it to the dogs," this woman kept on asking for a healing.
Sometimes we ask for something the first time, and we don't get it. With God that is not always a no. It could mean that He wants to see how committed we are to getting the things we want.
