Is Love On Your Mind?

When Chief Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., wrote the majority opinion for the 1927 Buck v. Bell decision, he upheld the practice of state-sponsored sterilization and wrote that "three generations of imbeciles are enough."

However, God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit hasn't had enough of people, and He counsels us to think well about God and people. Proverbs 4:23 Amplified Bible says, "Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life." Deuteronomy 6:5 New Living Translation Bible says, "And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength." Leviticus 19:18 The Message Bible says, "“Don’t seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people. “Love your neighbor as yourself. I am God."

Some people carry a grudge against people who are disabled, low-income and/or minorities. Some also seek revenge. The Charlotte Observer reports that Wallace Kuralt, a North Carolina welfare director from 1945 to 1972, said in a 1970 interview that “we’ve pursued sterilization of the inadequate parents more actively than any place in the world... Our activities (in birth control and sterilization) have caused us to give aid to less than 50 percent of the families we would have had to give aid to if it were not for these activities.” Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/08/08/4223519/alice-mae-jackson-and-eugenics.html#storylink=cpy.

It's this type of thinking that permitted William Lynch, Charles Holt, Alice Mae Jackson, Elaine Riddick, Nial Ramirez and more than 7,600 people in North Carolina to be forcibly sterilized. Elaine Riddick was raped at age 13 and became pregnant. At age 18 she got married and tried to have children a year later. When she couldn't, she found out that the state of North Carolina had sterilized her as her son, Tony Riddick, was being delivered by C-section. Elaine Riddick has been seeking to stop state-sponsored sterilization and to start financial compensation for the victims ever since. Due to her efforts and the efforts of many other people North Carolina is scheduled in June 2015 to pay $10 million split equally in a one-time payment to victims of North Carolina state-sponsored sterilization.

California has even more documented cases of state-sponsored sterilizations than North California. It has more than 20,000 and is believed to be the US state with the most sterilizations based on laws like the one upheld in Buck v. Bell. However, all state records have not been made public. Also California is not scheduled to pay compensation to sterilization victims.

The Buck v. Bell sterilization law and others like it are based on eugenic philosophy which believes that the human race can be improved by promoting the procreation of some considered superior and by eliminating the procreation of others considered inferior (usually the disabled, low-income and minorities).

When God tells the human race to multiply in the Bible, He doesn't limit procreation based on a person's physical, mental and economic characteristics. God does command people to have children within marriage. God wants children to be loved by a mother and father.

God is Love. Obey Love. Disobey the devil. Love sees the potential in people, does not embrace pride and desires to imitate God. The devil will use pride and any other sin to degrade, divide and destroy people.

Abortion, sterilization, discrimination against the disabled and others, and other evils can be stopped. “Anything is possible in this world," Chen Guangcheng says (Rosie Gray, "Chen Guangcheng: Chinese Government “In A State Of Madness,”" BuzzFeed, May 13, 2014.)

Disabled or non-disabled we all need help in various ways. Chen Guangcheng, who became blind as a result of a childhood illness and now wears dark sunglasses, is a self-taught lawyer from China who helped the disabled win public benefits and aided farmers fighting illegal land seizures. Chen Guangcheng became internationally known for filing a 2005 class-action law suit against Chinese government officials for forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China’s one-child policy. Later he endured physical and psychological abuse in jail and in house arrest. Chen Guangcheng was in house arrest with his wife, Yuan Weijing, and the couple's daughter. Their son was being "educated." Eventually the Chen family escaped to the United States. Chen Guangcheng, a US immigrant, testified before Congress on April 9, 2013, regarding human rights abuses in China.

Timothy Liveright has committed human rights abuses in America. Timothy Liveright, an abortionist at a Delaware Planned Parenthood clinic, would sing "hymns about sin to girls during the painful dilation phase of an abortion," according to Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, a former nurse at the clinic; read more at http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2013/08/02/another-gosnell-in-delaware/. Mitchell-Werbrich also said that Liveright placed patients on "operating tables still wet with the blood from the previous patient." Another former nurse at the Delaware Planned Parenthood clinic, Joyce Vasikonis, and a former healthcare manager at this clinic, Melody Meanor, have all testified of the unsafe, unsanitary, chaotic conditions in the Delaware Planned Parenthood clinic. Watch them talk in a "Planned Parenthood Whistleblowers" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzt8u-LC34w.

Instead of Timothy Liveright's, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.'s, and Wallace Kuralt's way of thinking and trying to solve problems, think and do Biblical love empowered by a relationship with God.

Our thoughts are influenced by what we hear. Anti-love eugenic thinking is still around today. What are some common sayings that encourage abortion, sterilization and discrimination against the disabled and others? Write to:

Is Anyone Safe In China?

Reverend Desmond Tutu of South Africa writes in An African Prayer Book, "...we are made to live in a delicate network of interdependence with one another, with God and with the rest of God's creation. We say in our African idiom: "A person is a person through other persons." A solitary human being is a contradiction in terms. A totally self-sufficient human being is ultimately subhuman. We are made for complementarity. I have gifts that you do not; and you have gifts that I do not. Voila! So we need each other to become fully human."

One of the ways that Tutu is trying to complement humanity is by serving as Honorary Co-Chair of Freedom Now. Jared Genser, Freedom Now pro-bono counsel for Chen Kegui, sent an April 29, 2013, letter to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture, seeking medical treatment for the appendicitis of Chen Kegui who is in Linyi Prison following a trial "that failed to meet international standards for due process" and an arrest close to the time that Kegui's uncle, human rights activist Chen Guangcheng escaped China.

In 2005 Chen Guangcheng filed a class action lawsuit against local government officials practicing forced abortions and forced sterilizations as part of China's one child policy. Guangcheng suffered time in Linyin Prison and house arrest before escaping house arrest. Then the United States and China negotiated Chen Guangcheng coming to America in spring 2012.

Speaking about China's one child policy in a video released in December 2012 to mark Human Rights Day Chen Guangcheng says, "It is a sin, because life is sacred."

China's one child policy is anti-life, anti-family as are all policies that permit abortion and involuntary sterilization. In addition to the baby boys and baby girls killed by abortion, Tonya Reaves, Christin Gilbert, Jennifer Morbelli, Denise Montoya are some American women killed by botched abortions. Maria Santiago is another woman recently killed at an abortion clinic. Read more about Maria Santiago and the abortion clinic she went to at http://www.lifenews.com/2013/05/29/hispanic-woman-dies-after-abortion-clinic-staff-had-no-cpr-training/. Some unborn babies survive botched abortions. Ana Rosa Rodriquez is a living girl missing an arm because an abortionist trying to kill her as an unborn baby sliced off her arm. Some other unborn babies who survived abortions are Gianna Jessen, who has cerebral palsy, and Gospel singer Fred Hammond, who has no physical damage from the attempted abortion.

Some people are trying to preserve and to promote life. Husband and wife Du Yiliang and Guo Yanling and their three children are refugees in Thailand who would like to live safely in their homeland China, but can't due to China's one child policy. Is anyone safe in China? In 1995 when Guo Yanling was eight months pregnant, she was forced to undergo an abortion. In 1999 she was forcibly sterilized. In 2006 Guo Yanling was imprisoned for not being able to pay a fine for having more than one child. Du Yiliang's and Guo Yanling's three children cannot attend school or receive government benefits because the unpaid fine is used as a block to obtaining household registrations for their three children. The household registrations allow children to attend school and to receive government benefits. Du Yiliang's and Guo Yangling's family experience is typical in China. What is not typical is that they have been granted refugee status in Thailand in 2011. For more on this family whose troubles are not over and others like them read http://www.chinaaid.org/2012/07/sister-guo-yanling-christian-in-guangxi.html.

Having the opportunity to live in equality, freedom, justice, safety and love are God's desire for us. God wants what is good for us. The devil (the thief) wants what is bad. The devil is the author, maintainer and promoter of China's one child policy and abortion and involuntary sterilization globally. Jesus Christ says in John 10:10 Amplified Bible, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."

Let's kick the devil off the planet. Embrace God and people.

You Cannot Borrow a Face

At age 16 Mary Shadd taught African American students. As an adult in addition to teaching and public speaking, she started a weekly newspaper, The Provincial Freeman, which was geared to help African Americans with life in the Northern United States, and she married Thomas Cary. Later on Mary Shadd Cary became a recruiting officer for the Union army.

After African Americans were freed from slavery and colored men got the right to vote, women of all races still could not vote in America. Some men and women were organized to help women secure the right to vote. Mary Ann Shadd Cary organized the Colored Women's Progressive Franchise Association and became a lawyer in her senior years.

Mary Shadd Cary was always doing something for freedom, equality and justice. She says, "It is better to wear out than to rust out."

Creyentes (believers) who are reinas y reyes (queens and kings) are called to fight the life-long good fight of faith in our good God against that which is evil. Saul, who later became the Apostle Paul, met Jesus Christ on a road in Damascus, Syria. Saul was so impressed that he spent the rest of his life traveling and telling people of various cultures and languages about a now and eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton writes in her Declaration of Sentiments, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal." The Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 3:28 Amplified Bible, "There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

Sometimes the truth about equality takes time to take hold in a society. All societies have people who are not treated equally. A ChinaAid News March 24, 2013, "With ChinaAid's Help, Two Victims of China's One-Child Policy Granted UNHCR Refugee Status" article reports that in 1995, when Guo Yanling was eight months pregnant, she was forced to have an abortion. In 1999, she was forcibly sterilized. In 2006, she was imprisoned for not being able to pay a fine for having more than one child. The Chinese government also refused to issue household registrations to her and to her husband, Du Yiliang's, three children without which they are unable to attend school or to receive government benefits. Guo Yanling's and Du Yiliang's abortion, sterilization, educational and economic terror experience is typical in China. What isn't nearly as typical is that with ChinaAid’s help, Guo Yanling and Du Yiliang have been granted refugee status by the UN High Commission on Refugees. Notes of encouragement to Du Yiliang and Guo Yanling, requests for interviews and financial contributions to ChinaAid's Emergency Relief Fund can all be submitted to ChinaAid founder and president Bob Fu at http://www.chinaaid.org/2013/03/with-chinaaid-help-two-victims-of-china.html.

In America if you are unborn and suspected of having a disability, you can be legally killed via abortion. Even if you are unborn and not suspected of having a disability, you can be killed for virtually any reason at all stages of pregnancy. American state abortion law has some variation. The Kermit Gosnell case is one that exposed that babies are also born alive but then killed after botched abortions. The following LifeNews.com link shows that Douglas Karpen is a Kermit-Gosnell-type abortionist killing unborn babies, babies born live after botched abortions and women: http://www.lifenews.com/2013/05/15/another-gosnell-report-shows-texas-abortion-doc-kills-babies-born-alive/; "“When he did an abortion, especially an over 20 week abortion, most of the time the fetus would come completely out before he cut the spinal cord or he introduced one of the instruments into the soft spot of the fetus, in order to kill the fetus,” said Deborah Edge, who worked as a surgical assistant for Karpen for about 15 years until leaving in March, 2011;" 15-year old Denise Montoya hemorrhaged and died after a 26-week abortion done by Karpen.

How many abortionists are like Kermit Gosnell and Douglass Karpen? Where is the extensive media coverage of what goes on inside abortion clinics?

An African proverb from the nation Angola says, "You can borrow a basket and a sieve; you cannot borrow a face." Once people are killed via abortion, they cannot get their life back.

Embrace People. Erase the Spirit of Fear.

Jesus Christ sweated blood in the garden of Gethsemane knowing He was going to be beaten, crucified and killed for the sins of creyentes (believers.) After He was beaten, crucified and resurrected from the dead in three days, Jesus Christ had paid the debt owed God the Father for sin.

As creyentes we have a new life as reyes y reinas (kings and queens) empowered by God the Holy Ghost, who is love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, kindness, goodness and self-control. Having peace and the other qualities does not mean that we will not work hard to live in peace and in the other qualities which are interconnected.

"The more we sweat in peace, the less we bleed in war," says Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, the first woman president of the United Nations. Some succumb to the spirit of fear and refuse to sweat in peace.

The spirit of fear is the greatest threat to love and to peace. 1 John 4:18 Complete Jewish Bible says, "There is no fear in love. On the contrary, love that has achieved its goal gets rid of fear, because fear has to do with punishment; the person who keeps fearing has not been brought to maturity in regard to love."

Because the Chinese government is afraid of people, they punish pro-creation. China's one child policy has killed more than 330 million baby boys and baby girls via abortion and more than 190 million people have been sterilized.

How many adolescent and adult women and men have been killed by China's one child policy? ChinaAid News reports in the May 18, 2013, article "Family Planning Officials in Jiangsu Province Beat Farmer to Near Death for Unauthorized Births," "Zhang Futao, of Group Five, Nangou Village, in the town of Beigou, in Xinyi city, is now hospitalized in critical condition and fighting for his life after suffering severe head injuries from the beating by the family planning officials who burst into his home at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday (May 15). They then kidnapped Zhang to Tashan Brigade and made his family pay a ransom." Zhang Futao and his wife have three children, a girl age 12, a boy age six and another girl age 4. Read the full story at http://www.chinaaid.org/2013/05/family-planning-officials-in-jiangsu.html.

America's sexuality policies are not as soaked in fear as China's sexuality policies. We cannot take comfort or congratulate ourselves. More than 55 million baby girls and baby boys have been killed via abortion in America. Adolescent and adult women die from abortion. Tonya Reaves, a 24-year-old African-American woman, died July 20, 2012, on the operating table of a Chicago, Illinois, Planned Parenthood as a result of an abortion-induced hemorrhage reported a local CBS television station.

The following LifeNews.com link shows that Kermit Gosnell is not the only abortionists killing late-term unborn babies, babies born live after botched abortions and women: http://www.lifenews.com/2013/05/15/another-gosnell-report-shows-texas-abortion-doc-kills-babies-born-alive/.

Some Nigerians share kola nuts to signify friendship. The global and American national media can show women and men friendship by thoroughly investigating abortionist Douglas Karpen and the entire abortion industry.

Late-term abortions can be done to kill baby girls and baby boys suspected of being disabled. Why should being disabled be a death sentence? Helen Keller, who is blind and death, says, "I thank God for my handicaps, for through them, I have found myself, my work, and my God."

After a speaking tour in the 1930s in Japan to improve conditions for the blind there, the Japanese gave Helen Keller an Akita dog. The Japanese and many other people enjoy and are enhanced by Helen Keller.

Embrace people. Erase the spirit of fear.  A Persian proverb says, "Human beings are part of each other, they are created from the same clay."

Thoughts About Abortion

It boggles the mind that some in the women's movement and pro-choice movement are against abortion clinics being required to meet hospital standards. Most abortions are surgeries. Don't we women deserve sound and safe healthcare?

Of course abortion isn't healthcare. It's the killing of a human being. With neonatal technology and other science it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that from the time egg and sperm unite and beyond human life exists. Also babies who have survived abortion are now testifying as adults about appreciation of God's gift of life. Forty-seven years ago the mother of Gospel singer Fred Hammond went to an abortion clinic and had a dilatation and curettage abortion. D&C abortion entails having the cervix dilated or stretched to permit the insertion of a loop shaped steel knife. The body of the baby is cut into pieces and removed and the placenta is scraped off the uterine wall. Hammond's mom left the abortion clinic being informed that she would have a miscarriage at home and should return to the clinic with the contents in a bag. While she had bleeding, she didn't have a miscarriage. So she went back to the abortion clinic. As she was in the clinic preparing to have the abortion, God moved on her spirit, and she left. Her son, Fred Hammond, told The Donnie McClurkin Show, "Here's why I don't have time to play church. At the end of the day when I was supposed to be discarded, and the tools came in to kill me, and the tools came in to crush my head . . . The Lord took His hand, pushed in there, and pushed me back out of the way, and they thought they got me. But at the end of the day God had a plan for a broken situation . . . God hid me."

The tools of abortionist Abu Hayat sliced off the arm of baby Ana Rosa Rodriquez, but Ana and her mom, Rosa, who was in her third-trimester of pregnancy, managed to survive the abortion. Hayat, whose medical license was revoked in 1991, also refused to complete an abortion on Marie Moise when Moise was unable to come up with more money for the abortion.

Sadly, more than one million babies are not hidden and loose their lives to abortion annually in the United States. Fewer than one percent of these abortions are done following rape, incest or to protect the physical health of the mother.

Abortion is dangerous and harmful to both mother and child. Tonya Reaves, a 24-year-old African-American woman, died July 20, 2012, on the operating table of a Chicago, Illinois, Planned Parenthood as a result of an abortion-induced hemorrhage reported a local CBS television station.

African-American women have three and a half times more abortions than white women. Not heart disease, not cancer, not diabetes, but abortion is the number one killer of black Americans. What are the abortion statistics for Latino Americans and Asian Americans?

Having a child is a chance for immortality since we humans reproduce generation after generation. Yet abortion is common. One in three American women of all races will have an abortion by the age of 45.

Many women are asking abortionists to kill their babies for temporary reasons. Many women say they are having abortions because they currently cannot afford children, and/or they currently have a male partner who does not support bringing their child to birth.

Prenatal ultrasound allows us to see the fetus inside the womb, and see they are human and shaped like humans with arms, legs, heads, etc at eight weeks (2 months) of life. 90 percent of abortions occur in the first three months of pregnancy.

Science has forced some pro-choice people to now admit that abortion ends human life. Frances Kissling, a long-time pro-choice advocate and former president of Catholics for Choice, told Time Magazine in the January 14, 2013, article "What Choice? Abortion-rights activists won an epic victory in Roe v. Wade. They've been losing ever since," "When people hear us say abortion is just another medical procedure, they react with shock . . . Abortion is not like having your tooth pulled or having your appendix out. It involves the termination of an early form of human life. That deserves some gravitas."

Thank you Kissling for your honesty. It's about time the women's movement and the pro-choice movement clearly articulated that abortion ends human life and should not be confused with true contraception which prevents human life from starting.

God is the author of life. David says about God in Psalm 139:13 Amplified Bible, "For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb."

American culture having exposure to the Bible and science shouldn't be clinging to the pro-choice position. This resistance to the truth is reminiscent of 1 Timothy 4:1 Amplified Bible which says, "But the [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach."

One of the things demons teach is deception. The deception of abortion is global. While it is illegal to have a sex-selection abortion in India, it is also easy to obtain one and a widespread practice of the poor class, middle class and upper class. Today the number of girls to boys is at the most lopsided it's ever been in 50 years with only 914 girls being born for every 1,000 boys being born, and sex-selection abortion plays a huge part in these figures. Naomi Zacharias, director of Wellspring International, says in the Wellspring International blog entry titled, "What Is Beautiful?" on 4/17/2012, "A tragic issue that has significantly impacted several countries in East Asia and is growing in North America, sex-selective abortion is chosen by parents with a preference for a son, who choose to abort their baby when a sonogram reveals the mother to be carrying a daughter. India alone is said to have 20-30 million “missing women,” and predictions estimate that by the year 2020, China will have 40 million unmarried men, a number equal to the entire population of young men in America. As direct result, crime rates, bride trafficking, sexual violence, and even female suicide rates are all rising."

Abortions are forced on women in China. Since 1979, Chinese couples have been limited to one child by law in order to control the country's population. In October 2011, Feng Jianmei, a 22-year-old woman from the small village of Yuping in Zeng Jia Township, Shaanxi province, became pregnant with her second child. On June 2, 2012, while Feng was seven months pregnant with her second child, she was forced to have an abortion. On June 11, Feng's family posted graphic pictures of her aborted child on the Internet. The images soon became a viral phenomenon, sparking controversy within China and drawing international attention to the issue of forced abortions.

Jazz, R&B and Gospel singer Lizz Wright sings "(I've Got to Use My) Imagination," a remake of a Gladys Knight and the Pips' song, on her Fellowship album. It's a song about being creative in overcoming challenging situations. Why aren't the pro-choice movement and the women's movement expanding beyond birth control and abortion to teach women to use their imagination to find solutions to unintended pregnancies that respect and celebrate both the life of the mother and her child?

Please leave an on-line comment sharing your abortion-survival story and/or ways you avoided abortion. Even in the hard cases abortion can be avoided. Rapists can be male or female. Ryan Bomberger, was conceived as one of the consequences of rape. Today he writes and speaks extensively for the pro-life position and along with his wife, Bethany Bomberger, founded and heads the Radiance Foundation which is an educational organization that uses various forms of media, speaking engagements, multi-media presentations and community outreach efforts to illuminate the intrinsic value each person possesses and to educate audiences about pressing societal issues and how they impact the understanding of God-given Purpose. Evangelist and author Joyce Meyer suffered incest through her childhood and adolescence. She bolted from her parents house at 18 years of age believing that would free her from the incest, but found that God had to take her through more than 15 years of spiritual and mental healing that she periodically shares about with her broadcast audience of more than 4.5 billion people reaching two-thirds of the world. Jayne Jones could have had a life-of-the-mother abortion since, her son, Billy, was growing outside her uterus threatening both his and her lives, but she choose to continue her pregnancy. At this time science is not usually sophisticated enough to preserve both the life of the mother and child when an ectopic pregnancy occurs. Most ectopic pregnancies occur when new human life grows in mom's too-small fallopian tubes instead of her uterus/womb creating a life-threatening situation for mom and child. Two percent of ectopic pregnancies occur outside the fallopian tubes. The U.S. National Institutes of Health estimate an ectopic pregnancy can occur in 1 in every 40 to 1 in every 100 pregnancies. Usually, the child is miscarried naturally. However, cases like Jayne and Billy's exist. Jayne and Billy's story has a happy outcome. Billy was born through a special surgery called a laparotomy on April 19, 2008, weighing 2lb 2oz and breathing on his own at 28 weeks gestation. Perhaps we are at the point where there is no such thing as life-of-the-mother abortions, i.e., artificially-induced surgical or chemical abortions to protect the physical health of the mother. In most ectopic pregnancies when the baby dies, a naturally-occurring miscarriage has taken place. Sometimes fertility treatments result in more human lives than a couple desires. Gladys Flores and Jose Abel del Cid went through fertility treatment expecting one or two children. Instead five were conceived. Some people will abort some of the multiple babies. But this couple did not even though the Salvadoran quintuplets were given little chance of survival when they were born prematurely on January 19, 1995, at San Salvador’s Maternity Hospital after a 32-week pregnancy. Today Thelma Estefanie, Irvin Norberto, Cristian Israel, Edwin Oswaldo and Milton Oliver del Cid Flores are healthy 18-year-olds contemplating futures in college.
