Tony Riddick is an entrepreneur with three businesses. He is also the son and only child of Elaine Riddick who was raped at age 13 in North Carolina by a man living in her neighborhood.
At the time of the rape, Elaine Riddick lived in a two-bedroom house with her grandmother, Maggie Woodard, known as "Miss Peaches". After her rape North Carolina state staff compelled Miss Peaches, who was illiterate, to sign a form if she wanted to continue to receive public assistance including food stamps. Miss Peaches signed the form with an "X" that permitted the state to sterilize Elaine Riddick without her consent.

Desmond Tutu retired as archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, in 1996 to head the Truth and Reconciliation Commission where many victims and perpetrators of apartheid discussed the deeds done during apartheid. America needs a truth and reconciliation commission on state-sponsored sterilization. Nationwide more than 60,000 documented cases of state-sponsored sterilization exist based on the type of sterilization law upheld in Buck v. Bell. Also all government records of sterilization have not been made public.
Proverbs 18:15 Amplified Bible says, "The mind of the prudent is ever getting knowledge, and the ear of the wise is ever seeking (inquiring for and craving) knowledge." Like the 1973 US Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade legalized abortion and has not been reversed, neither has the 1927 Buck v. Bell decision legalizing sterilization. In 1974 Elaine Riddick filed a lawsuit accusing the North Carolina Eugenics Board, social workers and the local hospital of unlawfully depriving her of the right to bear children. The US Supreme Court refused to hear her case.
Unjust acts need a hearing, so that knowledge and truth can be tools to right wrongs. Abortion has received more public attention than sterilization. Abortion is involved in many areas of sexuality and reproduction. Sometimes fertility treatments result in more human lives than a couple desires. Gladys Flores and Jose Abel del Cid went through fertility treatment expecting one or two children. Instead five were conceived. Some people will abort some of the multiple babies. But this couple did not. The Salvadoran quintuplets were given little chance of survival when they were born prematurely on January 19, 1995, at San Salvador’s Maternity Hospital after a 32-week pregnancy. Today Thelma Estefanie, Irvin Norberto, Cristian Israel, Edwin Oswaldo and Milton Oliver del Cid Flores are healthy 18-year-olds contemplating futures in college.

In Iran and in China it is difficult to be a Christian and to raise a family. Bob Fu, a Christian, left China with his wife, who was pregnant with their first child. The Fu family did not have government permission required under China's one-child policy to conceive and to give birth to a child. God gives people permission to celebrate two birthdays, one natural and one spiritual. John 1:12-13 Amplified Bible says, "But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]" Being born of God is living a good life now and forever including overcoming evil in an unbreakable relationship with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. Compensation claims must be filed by June 30, 2014, for victims to receive a one-time payment to be distributed June 30, 2015.
North Carolina's compensation excludes some people who were sterilized. To receive compensation victims must be alive as of June 30, 2013, and must prove that they did not receive informed consent. Love In Action
Free at last, high school over and living on her own with the hope of happily ever after -- a marriage. Sometimes spouses don't share the same hope. Lovemaking and a new life didn't come with commitment. Pregnant and her husband pursuing another lover in another home, what to do? Kill the unborn boy and sterilize herself?

God didn't promise us that our circumstances would always feel enjoyable. He promised us that His love and joy is always inside and surrounding believers. God would like for us to feel continuous joy and to live in continuous awesome circumstances, but sin gets in the way.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring except God? Love anyway. Joyce Meyer didn't abort her son or sterilize herself. Resist sin like dismembering bodies through abortion and mutilating bodies through sterilization.
Lovers are not hardhearted, hopeless or intent on harming people. Lovers are passionate, persevering and practical. Elaine Riddick was raped at age 13. She has for many years been asking North Carolina to compensate her and other people who were forcibly sterilized. Li Dahai is alive because of love in action, and Pastor Fu is still in action loving others.

God designed for spouses to become closer through merry, marital lovemaking and occasionally lovemaking will include the beginning of a new life through the union of egg and sperm. Sex is supposed to be sublime and sensational. God's plan is good. Other plans are bad (sinful). Sin is anti-social. Partner sex outside of marriage, rape, abortion and sterilization are sin.

Sensational Sex Please
Song of Songs 7:12-13 New Living Translation Bible says, "Let us get up early and go to the vineyards to see if the grapevines have budded, if the blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates have bloomed. Marriage is as old as when God joined Eve and Adam together. Married couples can keep their marriages new by continuously cultivating love and sexuality.
Tejas is the name the Spanish gave to the area that later became the state of Texas. Tejas is based on a native American word for friend.
One of Webster's New World Dictionary definitions for friend is "a person whom one knows well and is fond of." To know a spouse well requires abundant time together for things like observing, listening, conversing and learning what pleases and displeases each other, and then seeking to please each other.
Jesus Christ says in John 10:10 Amplified Bible, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."
Satan wants to make married couples so busy that they do not have time to relax and enjoy sensational, sex-filled marriages. Satan wants to fill their minds with worries, especially worries about housing, food, employment, money, etc.
Chen Guangcheng is married to Yuan Weijung. They have a girl and a boy born in China which has an one-child policy. God has no problem with a married couple having two children. Sometimes it pleases God for a married couple to have more than two children. Sometimes is pleases God for a married couple to have less than two children. It never pleases God to kill unborn girls and unborn boys through abortion.
However, Satan hates all children and is pleased by abortion. Satan works through people like the Chinese government who has been persecuting Chen Guangcheng, his family and the people of China.
In addition to having two children, Chen Guangcheng, a human rights lawyer, also filed a class-action lawsuit in 2005 against local Chinese officials involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations. Then Chinese authorities sent him to jail for five years and then to house arrest.
Satan doesn't just work through Chinese officials, he also works through anyone willing to do evil and/or to be indifferent to evil. When Guangcheng escaped from house arrest in China and came to live in New York in May 2012, he and his family also had a place to live and other economic benefits provided to him as a visiting scholar of New York University. Now New York University seeks to threaten Chen Guangcheng's marriage, family and human rights work protecting unborn girls, unborn boys and others by forcing him to leave the university this month while denying that Chen Guangcheng's exit is connected to plans to build a New York University campus in Shanghai, China.
Chen Guangcheng is a friend of and works with ChinaAid founder and president Bob Fu, in the cause for human rights. Fu, who also escaped from China and now lives and works in Texas, said, "American universities are out chasing the China dollar and are very reluctant to work with dissidents who have a strong voice in China. It does not always have to be direct pressure from Beijing, there is also self-censorship, particularly if a college president believes their China campus or the future enrollment of Chinese students will be sabotaged."
A Nembe African proverb says, "Shy semen won't give birth." Not everyone is influenced by Satan to be afraid of sexuality and to try to strangle sex economically.
We can call our members of Congress today and urge them to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which seeks to place a national prohibition on abortions of unborn girls and boys 20 weeks and older. Twenty weeks is the time when the unborn are able to feel pain. Chen Guangcheng Doesn't Settle For Less Than The Best, Why Should You?
God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Ghost is a God of excellence and completion. He doesn't want us to behave halfheartedly and haphazardly toward Him or toward other people. Luke 10:27 Amplified Bible says, "And he replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." 3 John 1:2 Complete Jewish Bible says, "Dear friend, I am praying that everything prosper with you and that you be in good health, as I know you are prospering spiritually."
Creyentes (believers) are reinas y reyes (queens and kings.) We are valuable and deserve outstanding treatment both male and female and of whatever racial, ethnic or other background. Satan wants us to think small and settle for less than God's best.
For years abolitionists and women's rights activists worked together supporting each others causes. Yet when the Fifteenth amendment was ratified in 1870 effectively extending the right to vote to African American men and other men of color, some wanted women to suck it up and shut up about their lack of a right to vote.
Abolitionists and women's rights activists like Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and others said we are going to stand up and to continue to seek all that is due us.
Christopher Yuan, who used to practice homosexual sex and is now a celibate, public speaker for Jesus Christ says that unconditional love is not unconditional acceptance of bad behavior.
Are you refusing to deal with bad behavior in a relationship? God doesn't settle for less than the best. God cares enough about us to bring His best out of us and in our relationships.
About one year ago the US and China agreed to allow Chen Guangcheng, his wife, Yuan Weijing, and their two children to leave China and to come to the United States. China agreed not to harass or to harm the Chen Guangcheng family still in China. In 2005 Guangcheng, a blind, self-taught lawyer, filed a class action lawsuit against local government authorities involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China's one child policy. He was put in jail then in house arrest in Shandong, China.
Guangcheng, Weijing, their son and their daughter are in the United States now, but Guangcheng's nephew, Chen Kegui, was arrested shortly after Guangcheng left China last spring after Chinese authorities burst into his house, and he attempted to defend himself. Chen Kegui is currently in jail and has not been taken to a hospital for treatment of acute appendicitis. Chen Kegui is married to Liu Fang. The couple have a young son, Chen Fubin. Last Thursday morning Guangcheng's brother, Chen Guangfu, was beat up by unidentified men who stopped him while he was riding his electric bike, which they destroyed. Other acts violence have been perpetrated against the Chen family since Chen Guangcheng came to America last year.
In addition to testifying before Congress on April 9, 2013, Chen Guangcheng and others have been speaking and seeking to get China to honor all of their side of the agreement that allowed Guangcheng to leave China while bringing attention to forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China's one child policy and other human rights abuses in China.
One of Guangcheng's friends is Bo Fu, founder and president of ChinaAid. They have been meeting with members of Congress. They reaped some fruit from their labors when a letter dated May 13, 2013, was sent to Secretary of State John Kerry signed by both House Speaker John Boehner and Minority leader Nancy Pelosi as well as six other senior Republican and Democratic members of Congress including Chris Smith, Frank Wolf, Illeana Ros-Lehtinen, Joseph Crowley, James McGovern and Rick Larsen.
Some of the things the letter urges US Secretary of State John Kerry to obtain are:
1) medical treatment for Chen Kegui
2) medical parole for Chen Kegui
3) a meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry, Chen Guangcheng and Yuan Weijing
4) denial of US visas to 44 officials involved in persecuting Chen Guangcheng's family
Bad behavior can be brought around to good. God doesn't often speak to us audibly. He usually speaks to our inner person leading us to what is right. If we don't do what He says, God can use community correction. Unity can be used for good. An East African proverb says, "When minds are the same, that which is far off will come."
Pray that US Secretary of State John Kerry and President Barak Obama's administration takes the actions requested in the bi-partisan Congressional letter. Don't only pray about leaders, pray about all of your life and relationships. God enjoys a lot of communication and is very responsive. Stirring Up Timely Trouble
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela's tribal name "Rolihlahla" means "to stir up trouble." He lived up to his name by becoming South Africa's first democratically elected president and ushering out apartheid, which treated blacks, Asians and other people of color as lesser than European-heritage people.
Chen Guangcheng is not from South Africa, but he has stirred up trouble in his native China. Guangcheng became internationally known for filing a 2005 law suit against a local government for forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China’s one-child policy. Later he endured physical and psychological abuse in jail and in house arrest. Eventually he escaped to the United States through negotiations between the US State Department and Chinese authorities.
Chinese authorities are still upset about the trouble Guangcheng has continued to stir up. On April 9, 2013, Guangcheng testified before a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee On Foreign Affairs about his family's and other people's persecution in China and other ongoing human rights abuses in China. Guangcheng gave Congress a list of Chinese officials involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations. Some testimony is still being translated from Chinese to English.
Pastor Bob Fu, founder and president of China Aid, also testified at the subcommittee hearing. He cited some cases of forced abortion and forced sterilization in China. Fu said:
"On March 13, a woman Henan province (Daxuzhaitown, Taikang county) who had had a forced abortion was found hanged at the local family planning office with suspicious injuries all over her body. On March 19, a mother of two in Hubei province (Tongshan county) named Shen Hongxia was forced by local family planning officials to have a tubal ligation against doctors orders that led to her death. On March 22, a woman in her seventh month of pregnancy in Anhui province (Chuzhou, Fengyang county) was kidnapped by family planning cadres and taken to a hospital where a lethal injection was given that killed her seven-month-old unborn baby and caused her to deliver a dead fetus. China Aid has interviewed the husband of this woman and has offered to help them."
In October 2012 Actor and Activist Christian Bale presented Chen Guangcheng with an award at the annual gala of Human Rights First. Bale said, "He [Chen] had exposed a program of forced abortion and sterilization in Shandong. A program of forced abortion means that women are being dragged from their homes against their will. They are being forced to have abortions, sometimes late-term -- imagine that -- with some women reportedly dying in the process. Now this is true horror. And in this insane world, this man, Chen, who was helping these women -- who was living by some of the most simple, brave and universally admired values -- values that we teach our children every day, and helping our fellow man -- for this, this man was imprisoned and beaten for over four years."
China does not operate by rule of law. Chinese authorities do what they like irregardless of laws. Guangcheng's nephew, Chen Kegui, has been in jail after using knives to fend off local officials who burst into Kegui's home after Guangcheng's escape. Kegui is married to Liu Fang. The couple have a young son, Chen Fubin. An April 29, 2013, letter by Freedom Now to the United Nation's Special Rapporteur on Torture says in part:
"Chen Kegui is currently suffering from appendicitis, and although prison authorities may have administered intravenous antibiotics, he is in severe pain, has been denied access to a doctor, and has not been taken to a hospital despite reports that his appendix has begun to rupture.
Chen Kegui, 33, was detained by Chinese authorities shortly after his uncle, a prominent human rights advocate, escaped from illegal house arrest and sought refuge at the United States Embassy in Beijing. On April 27, 2012, police, local party officials, and government thugs stormed the family's home and arrested Chen Kegui's father, Chen Guangfu, beating and interrogating him about Chen Guangcheng's whereabouts. Authorities returned to the home and savagely beat Chen Kegui and his mother, Ren Zongju. When Chen Kegui attempted to defend himself from the intruders, a local party official was injured. After disappearing Chen Kegui for a number of days, the government formally arrested him in early May and ultimately sentenced him to three years and three months in prison on November 30, 2012, after a trial that failed to meet international standards for due process."
Luke 1:37 Complete Jewish Bible says, "For with God, nothing is impossible.” God impregnated a virgin without using male sperm. Since God did this, surely He can answer prayers for Chen Kegui, the Chen family and for the end to China's one-child policy which includes forced abortions and forced sterilizations and for an end to abortion everywhere.
According to Financial Times, the Chinese Health Ministry reported that since 1971, 196 million sterilizations and 336 abortions have been performed in China. Many of these are involuntary. In the January 2011 document, “Abortion Statistics: United States Data and Trends,” National Right to Life Committee Education Director Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon estimates that there have been 54,559,615 abortions since the January 22, 1973, Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion based on data from both the Centers for Disease Control and the Guttmacher Institute, a former Planned Parenthood research arm. The analysis also found that the best estimate for the current number of annual abortions in the United States — involving both the surgical abortion procedure as well as the abortion drug RU 486 — is 1.2 million. Adding another year of 1.2 million abortions to the 2011 total National Right to Life estimated based on Guttmacher and CDC figures, there have been 55,772.015 abortions in America since Roe v. Wade. Another way to look at the statistics is to say that in America every 30 seconds a baby loses his or her life through abortion.
Former Mexican President Benito Juarez said, "The respect for the rights of others is peace."
The rights of the unborn and the born of all ages are not being respected in China or America. Don't agree to be silent and slack about fighting to end abortion, involuntary sterilization and other human rights abuses. A Japanese proverb says, "Do quickly what is good." The US negotiated a deal with China to get Chen Guangcheng out of China. The US can negotiate with China to get Chen Kegui to a hospital to treat his appendicitis and to free him from jail. Write to:
