Wisdom, Power and Diversity

God welcomes people without getting stuck in a web of sin. He wants us to do likewise. God the Son Jesus Christ is Wisdom and Power that He gives to creyentes (believers) for living the good life He promised us. "Everything is permissible (allowable and lawful) for me; but not all things are helpful (good for me to do, expedient and profitable when considered with other things). Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave of anything or be brought under its power" (1 Corinthians 6:12 Amplified Bible.)

A Chinese proverb says, "No one's ten fingers are all the same length" meaning "You cannot expect that everyone will be like you." Paul, an apostle of God, was a keen observer of people who found multiple things in the way people are and act to show and tell them about God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit and to unite them into the family of God which has love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. Paul celebrated diversity without practicing Biblical disobedience.

Patience is about cultivating consistent godly character not about putting off godly action. Un dicho (a proverb) says, "No hay tiempo como el presente" ("There is no time like the present.") Christian Minister and Civil Rights Activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said in his August 28, 1963, I Have A Dream speech given at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., "Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood .... There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights." 1 Corinthians 13:6 New Living Translation Bible says about love, "It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out." Another word for injustice is wrongdoing. 1 Corinthians 13:6 English Standard Version Bible says about love, "It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth." The truth is God created equal people of all races, sexes, ethnicity, ages and abilities; He expects us to love Him and to love all people not make exemptions for wrongdoing.

While racial and other wrongdoing still exists today, legal segregation doesn't; also African Americans are more fully enjoying citizenship rights than in 1963. What are some wonderful ways from African American heritage to lead people to Jesus Christ and to more fully enjoy American citizenship? Write to:

Expect the Unexpected

We all have expectations of how others should act. Mary, Martha, Lazarus and Jesus Christ were friends. When Mary and Martha called on Jesus to heal Lazarus, their brother who was dying, they expected Jesus to come soon and heal Lazarus. When Jesus didn't come right away, they didn't understand.

In the movie The Flowers of War a Chinese father assists the invading Japanese soldiers as a way to get his daughter to safety. The daughter doesn't understand her dad's involvement with the Japanese, and she thinks his involvement is evidence that he is a bad person.

Doing the unexpected does not necessarily mean doing something unkind. Jesus Christ delayed His visit to Mary, Martha and Lazarus because He wanted to show that what He had been saying (Jesus Christ is God; God can raise the dead; and God can give eternal life) was possible and true. Jesus' delay allowed Jesus to raise a dead and decaying person (Lazarus) from the dead to new life, showing God is truthful and powerful.

When it seems that the Japanese are going to rape and murder the daughter in The Flowers of War, the daughter is discouraged about being rescued and decides to lead herself and other girls to commit suicide.

The devil specializes in creating circumstances to discourage people. A Japanese proverb says, "An evil act runs a thousand miles." Chinese authorities are trying to discourage people from protesting China's one-child policy. Zhang Yimou, the director of The Flowers of War, is being threatened by Chinese authorities with a fine of nearly $27 million for allegedly fathering seven children. After Chen Guangcheng filed a 2005 lawsuit against local officials practicing forced abortions and forced sterilizations as part of China's one-child policy, he went to jail and house arrest. He only got out of house arrest by escape and by negotiation between the U.S. and China. Many boys and girls haven't gotten out and have been killed by forced abortions, and many parents have been involuntarily sterilized.

The advocates of discouragement are not destined to ultimately win. Christian Minister and Human Rights Activist Desmond Tutu says in part of "An Easter Message:"

"Nothing could have been deader than Jesus on the cross that first Good Friday. And the hopes of his disciples had appeared to die with his crucifixion. Nothing could have been deeper than the despair of his followers when they saw their Master hanging on the Cross like a common criminal. The darkness that covered the earth for three hours during that Friday symbolized the blackness of their despair.

And then Easter happened. Jesus rose from the dead. The incredible, the unexpected happened. Life triumphed over death, light over darkness, love over hatred, good over evil. That is what Easter means--hope prevails over despair. Jesus reigns as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Oppression and injustice and suffering can't be the end of the human story. Freedom and justice, peace and reconciliation, are his will for all of us, black and white, in this land and throughout the world. Easter says to us that despite everything to the contrary, his will for us will prevail, love will prevail over hate, justice over injustice and oppression, peace over exploitation and bitterness."

Awesome leaders are born in adverse times. Not long after Jesus Christ was born, Herod ordered that the male babies of Bethlehem, Israel, be killed. Christian Minister and Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King, Jr., was born in 1929 during the American Great Depression.

Even though more than 330 million boys and girls have lost their lives to abortion in China since the implementation of China's one-child policy, and more than 55 million American babies have been killed by abortion since Roe v. Wade, God is up to something good. Unexpected heroes in The Flowers of War rescue the suicidal daughter and girls. Fred Hammond started out as a baby on whom an abortion was attempted; today he is an adult Gospel singer. Don't let the devil suck you into discouragement. Continuously stand up for life, love and freedom. Un dicho (a proverb) dice, "El que persevera triunfa." (Whoever perseveres, triumphs.") An Ethiopian proverb says, "Anticipate the good so that you may enjoy it." God lives inside of creyentes (believers) giving us the power to live 1 Corinthians 13:7 Amplified Bible which says, "Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]."

What are some stories of enduring love and the unexpected? Write to:

Would You Accept Infidelity?

Some want to side step clear cases of evil and allow the status quo to continue. Some examples of this are those who refused to speak out against American segregation and spouses of all generations who want their spouses to put up with their same-sex and/or opposite-sex infidelities, lying and other habitual sin attitudes and actions of "I want to feed my appetites with all my might, and I don't care if it's not right."

Jesus Christ says in Matthew 5:6 Amplified Bible, "Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!"

A Rolling Stones laments "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." No one can find satisfaction outside of right standing with God. To thirst after righteousness, God has to deliver us from immersion in the immaturity of me, me, me.

True love is not isolationist neither is it perfectly social except when practiced by God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Ghost. Christian Minister and Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King Jr. while he was imperfect as is every other human being was not typical in that he had the kind of passionate love that permeated every area of his life.

Light, love, life are all names for God. When God comes to live inside a person, God commands us to cooperate with His process of kicking out licentiousness and other enemies of love. Jesus Christ says in Matthew 5:16 Amplified Bible, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven."

God wants us to love willfully, wonderfully, wholly. God is not about how little His creyentes (believers) who are reinas y reyes (queens and kings) can do to make many people's lives better, but how much. Jesus Christ is the Great Lover, and He is cultivating a kingdom family of great lovers.

More than 574,000 people worldwide from over 180 countries have signed a petition lending support to Pastor and U.S. Citizen Saeed Abedini who in January 2013 was sentenced by Iranian authorities to an eight-year prison sentence for "threatening the national security of Iran;" Pastor Abedini had been involved in setting up house churches in Iran and also an orphanage. A campaign to write letters to him for his May 7th birthday and to sign the petition is being coordinated at http://www.savesaeed.org. Another good reason to sign the petition and/or write a letter is that Iran will be having elections in June and to continue to pressure the US State Department, the European Union and other countries and organizations to help free Pastor Saeed Abedini.

Have you prayed, signed the petition, wrote a letter or did something else to free Pastor Abedini, who is being tortured in an Iranian prison for his Christian faith?

No matter what abilities and disabilities we have God made us, loves us and respects the life of all people. Please call Governor Mary Fallin at (405-521-2342) to ask her to sign into law HB 1403 The Nondiscrimination in Treatment Act of Oklahoma which protects the elderly, seriously ill and disabled by preventing medical providers from denying individuals life-saving treatment based on their quality of life.

The devil does not like people with disabilities or any human being because we are made in the image of God, his arch enemy.

Chen Guangcheng, who became blind as a result of a childhood illness and now wears dark sunglasses, is a self-taught lawyer from China who helped the disabled win public benefits and aided farmers fighting illegal land seizures. He became internationally known for filing a 2005 law suit against a local government for forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China’s one-child policy.

Guangcheng's lawsuit was rejected, and he was placed under house arrest in Shandong, China, with guards surrounding his house, his cell phone service cut off, access to the Internet blocked and bright lights shinning on his house at night. His wife, Yuan Weijing, and daughter were living with him under house arrest. This family was prevented from meeting their wider family, including Chen Guangcheng's and Yuan Weijing's son, who lived elsewhere with an aunt.

Tejas is the name the Spanish gave to the area that became the US state of Texas. The Spanish chose the name based on a Native American word for "friend."

Guangcheng had friends help him to escape from house arrest in April 2012. He Peirong is a key member of a group of activists who organize support for Guangcheng in China. He Peirong drove Guangcheng to the US embassy in Beijing. Were they traveling in a Corolla, the best-selling car of all time produced by the Japanese company Toyota?

A deal was worked out between China and the United States; now Guangcheng lives in New York with his wife, Yuan Weijing, and their two children.

On April 9, 2013, he testified before a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee On Foreign Affairs about his family's and other people's persecution in China and other ongoing human rights abuses in China. Guangcheng gave Congress a list of 130,000 Chinese officials involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations.

Since China's one-child policy was implemented in the 1970s more than 336 million babies have been killed by abortion; in America since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion 55 million babies have been killed.

Guangcheng's nephew, Chen Kegui, has been in jail after using knives to fend off local officials who burst into Kegui's home after Guangcheng's escape. Kegui is married to Liu Fang. The couple have a young son, Chen Fubin.

"He (Chen Kegui) must be heavily injured, I'm worried about his physical state," Liu Fang said to Reuters reporter Sui-Lee Wee for her May 24, 2012, article "Brother of blind China activist flees village." Liu Fang also said about her husband and Guangcheng's nephew, "Inside, he might be subject to beatings."

Torture and other reprisals by Chinese authorities are happening to family and friends of Guangcheng since his escape from China to the US one year ago.

On April 24, 2013, Chen Kegui's mother, Ren Zongju, and Chen Kegui's uncle, Chen Guangjun, were told by Chinese authorities to answer questions about whether they “harbored a criminal” by helping Chen Kegui before his capture. Chen Guangjun is a bother of Chen Guangcheng

Chen Guangfu, another brother of Chen Guangcheng, told Chris Buckley of The New York Times for his April 24, 2013, article, "Chinese Officials Order Questioning of Exiled Activist’s Relatives, “I think that this is really about Guangcheng;” “I’ve heard that he spoke at the U.S. Congress and leveled accusations against officials. In my view, that infuriated them.”

Reinas y reyes are called to infuriate the enemy of good relationships. 1 John 3:7-8 the Message Bible says, "So, my dear children, don’t let anyone divert you from the truth. It’s the person who acts right who is right, just as we see it lived out in our righteous Messiah. Those who make a practice of sin are straight from the Devil, the pioneer in the practice of sin. The Son of God entered the scene to abolish the Devil’s ways."

The devil has had his way in China with more Chinese baby boys and baby girls losing their lives to abortion than the combined total population of the United States of America and Australia! The devil has had his way in America with a baby losing his or her life every 30 seconds!

Christmas 1967, Martin Luther King, Jr. preached the following words: "Now let me say that the next thing we must be concerned about if we are to have peace on earth and good will toward men is the nonviolent affirmation of the sacredness of all human life. Every man is somebody because he is a child of God…Man is more than a tiny vagary of whirling electrons or a wisp of smoke from a limitless smoldering. Man is a child of God, made in His image, and therefore must be respected as such….And when we truly believe in the sacredness of human personality, we won't exploit people, we won't trample over people with the iron feet of oppression, we won't kill anybody."

Talk to God, godly people and write a letter about forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China's one-child policy and human rights abuses of Chen Guangcheng's family and friends to:

Good Love

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," wrote Christian Minister and Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King, Jr. in a letter written while he was in a Birmingham, Alabama, city jail because of protesting racial segregation.

The war against love is in America, in China and in multiple nations globally. Today segregation is illegal in America, but racial problems still exist and other forms of discrimination abound. One area of discrimination is abortion. The unborn in America in China and elsewhere are missing a right to life. Since 1973 when abortion was legalized in America, more than 55 million babies have been killed. Since China's one-child policy was implement in the 1970s more than 336 million babies have been killed by abortion.

Chen Guangcheng played a key role in exposing forced abortions and forced sterilizations in China. Guangcheng is a blind lawyer for the disabled and against forced abortions and forced sterilizations for anyone. He escaped from house arrest in China in April of 2012 and is now living in New York of the United States of America. On Tuesday he testified before a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee On Foreign Affairs about his family's persecution in China and other ongoing human rights abuses in China. Guangcheng gave Congress a list of 130,000 Chinese officials involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations.

In America more than one million babies are killed by abortion annually. Women are killed too. Tonya Reaves, a 24-year-old African-American woman, died July 20, 2012, on the operating table of a Chicago, Illinois, Planned Parenthood as a result of an abortion-induced hemorrhage reported a local CBS television station. Christin Gilbert was a 19-year-old with Down Syndrome who was killed by a botched abortion along with her baby. Both mom, Rosa Rodriquez, and baby, Ana Rosa Rodriquez, survived abortion, but baby Ana had her arm sliced off.

A Dagari African proverb says, "Living together is possible only after many a confrontation."

A diversity of people are needed to confront evil wherever it exists. I had a former homosexual co-worker tell me that he was against abortion but for gay sex. While he is wrong about gay sex (a form of adultery), he is right about abortion. Leviticus 18:22 New Living Translation Bible says, "“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." Exodus 20:14 English Standard Bible says, "“You shall not commit adultery." Exodus 20:13 Complete Jewish Bible says, "“Do not murder."

God designed sex between a husband and a wife to be beautiful. Spooning, vaginal rear-entry, man on top, woman on top and other forms of sexual intercourse and other love play are marvelous. Sometimes out of the marvelous new life is created to be cherished.

Martin Luther King Jr. spoke for love. Chen Guangcheng is speaking for love. Will you?

A Japanese proverb advises, "Do quickly what is good."

Honor, Service and Relationships

"Then she came to the end of that concert, singing "Ave Maria" as nobody else can sing it. And they called her back and back and back and back again, and she finally ended by singing "Nobody Knows de Trouble I Seen." And her mother was sitting out in the audience, and she started crying; tears were flowing down her cheeks. And the person next to her said, "Mrs. Anderson, why are you crying? Your daughter is scoring tonight. The critics tomorrow will be lavishing their praise on her. Why are you crying?"

And Mrs. Anderson looked over with tears still flowing and said, "I'm not crying because I'm sad, I'm crying for joy." She went on to say, "You may not remember; you wouldn't know. But I remember when Marian was growing up, and I was working in a kitchen till my hands were all but parched, my eyebrows all but scalded. I was working there to make it possible for my daughter to get an education. And I remember one day Marian came to me and said, 'Mother, I don't want to see you having to work like this.' And I looked down and said, 'Honey, I don't mind it. I'm doing it for you and I expect great things of you.'"

And finally one day somebody asked Marian Anderson in later years, "Miss Anderson, what has been the happiest moment of your life? Was it the moment that you had your debut in Carnegie Hall in New York? She said, "No, that wasn't it." Was it the moment you stood before the kings and queens of Europe?" "No, that wasn't it." "Well, Miss Anderson, was it the moment that Sibelius of Finland declared that his roof was too low for such a voice?" "No, that wasn't it." "Miss Anderson, was it the moment that Toscanini said that a voice like yours comes only once in a century?" "No, that wasn't it." "What was it then, Miss Anderson?" And she looked up and said quietly, "The happiest moment in my life was the moment that I could say, 'Mother, you can stop working now.'" Marian Anderson realized that she was where she was because somebody helped her to get there," said Christian Minister and Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King, Jr., about international Singer and Civil Rights Activist Marian Anderson in his speech Why Jesus Called A Man A Fool.

Anderson's life showed that it is not foolish to honor your parents. "Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus dias se alarguen en la tierra que Jehova tu Dios te da," dice Biblia Bilingue Version Reina-Valera 1960. "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you," says Bilingual Bible New King James Version.

On April 4th many honored Martin Luther King Jr., a father of four children, who was assassinated on this day 45 years ago. On April 4th deceased parents and other ancestors were honored for the Chinese holiday Qingming Festival.

Treating our parents well and other people well is also treating ourselves well. John Maxwell, author, speaker, entrepreneur writes in his May 2013 article for Success magazine entitled "Taking the Leap Is it time for your big, bold venture?," "People go along with people they get along with.

"Between 70 percent and 90 percent of decisions not to repeat a purchase of anything are not about product or price. They are about some dimension of service," author and former Burger King CEO Barry J. Gibbons once noted. Yikes! If that doesn't force you to put a smile on your face and some warmth in your handshake, I don't know what will."

Few smiles, few warm handshakes, a lack of parental respect and other poor service issues impact Christian disciplining. The ways in which we live in or out of love have a direct impact on the number and quality of our relationships.

As a part of Qingming Festival people sweep tombs. Ask God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost if there is anything that needs to be swept out of your mindset that is blocking a more influential love lifestyle. Then allow the power of God to change you and cause you to do more of those things that please Him.

True Self, Child-of-God Self

". . . But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves . . . " -- John 1:9-13 The Message.

As teenagers we all are discovering our identity. At age 15 when Constance Baker Motley was discovering her identity, she was told to get off a public beach in Connecticut because she was black.

Instead of internalizing the shame, God caused Motley to develop her true self, her child-of-God self. God used this experience to make Motley aware of the inequality in America among blacks and whites. Instead of accepting the status quo of discrimination, Motley decided to be a mover and shaker for justice. She sought to gain knowledge about the black struggle for equality in America not only from this experience but also through her family and her Episcopalian church.

Motley went on to extinguish much of Jim Crow, racism and sexism. She became a key member of the team that won the civil rights case Brown v. School Board of Topeka, Kansas et al in 1954. The US Supreme Court decided this case by doing away with "separate but equal" education for blacks and others and declared segregated schooling unconstitutional. It was Motley who drafted the original complaint which was successfully argued by Thurgood Marshall.

As counsel for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Motley won nine out of 10 civil rights cases she litigated before the US Supreme Court and was one of Martin Luther King Jr.'s chief legal advisers.

Motley was also the first black woman to become a US federal judge. She was the first black woman to be elected to the New York state senate. Motley was the first woman of any race to become president of one of the five boroughs that make up New York City, in her case Manhattan.

Seek God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Ghost, the three that are only one, for your true self, your child-of-God self. Society is suffering. We need everyone to be their true self, their child-of-God self to bring the kingdom of God from heaven to earth. Talk to God.

Father God in the Precious Name of My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Empowered by the Holy Ghost, in all ways change me into my true self, my child-of-God self. Prevent fear, shame and any bad behavior from stopping me from being all that you created me to be.
