Hebrews 13:20-21 Amplified Bible says, "Now may the God of peace [Who is the Author and the Giver of peace], Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood [that sealed, ratified] the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament), Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it)." God wants all good things for His creyentes (believers). Former Mexican President Benito Juarez said, "The respect for the rights of others is peace."
Slavery and peace are incompatible. June 19th is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day in the United States of America. Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of African-American slavery in the United States of America.
On June 18, 2013, the United States House of Representatives voted in favor of H.R. 1797 the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which puts a national prohibition on abortions of unborn girls and unborn boys aged 20 weeks and older. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act respects the rights of the unborn who are people too deserving of peace, freedom and other good gifts from God.
God knows how to give good gifts. In addition to giving creyentes eternal life, God gave creyentes sabbaths to worship Him and to keep economic activity as a balanced part of our lives instead of consuming our lives. One sabbath God gave lasts for one year in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is a foreshadow of better things to come in the New Testament. Dads, moms, children, singles and everyone benefits when a one-year-and-more of paid leave is a global employment reality. Biblical living is beautiful, balanced living.
The Chinese invented the toothbrush. A clean mouth promotes dental health, beautiful teeth and fresh breath. May we be cleansed from the unhealthy, ugly disrespect of people through slavery, abortion and excessive economic work. May we celebrate God and the good life He gave us.

Do We Believe In Proper Parenting?
"Honduras" means "depth" and is also the name of a country in Central America. Jesus Christ went to great depths to preach publicly and to practice good deeds publicly. He also went to great depths to get away from the public regularly to talk with God privately and to spend private time with his apostolic family.
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is intensely good. Satan is intensely evil. Satan seeks to split families in various ways. Jesus Chris says in Mark 3:25 Amplified Bible, "And if a house is divided (split into factions and rebelling) against itself, that house will not be able to last."
What are some lies Satan tells to motivate employers to demand too much time from employees? Write to:

We need copious time with God, family and friends.
Ephesians 6:4 Amplified Bible says, "Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to resentment], but rear them [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord." If dad is rarely present in relationships, how can he train, discipline and counsel his children?
Satan working through the Iranian government put Pastor and US Citizen Saeed Abedini in jail for his Christian faith and works. Pastor Saeed would like to be present with his family and serving as a Biblical father. We can help him by praying and by doing deeds to pressure Iran to release Pastor Saeed Abedini from Evin prison in Tehran, Iran.
A Chinese proverb says, "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." Sign the petition and write a letter to Pastor Abedini at the website http://www.savesaeed.org.
Workplace flexibility, such as one-year or more of paid leave, and global freedom to parent properly are possible. Proverbs 4:23 Amplified Bible says, "Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life." Saint Augustine, a North African bishop, said, "What can be hoped for which is not believed?"

Generous, Big-Hearted and Open-Minded
Quincy Jones turned 80 years old in March 2013. In America he could have retired about two decades ago. Instead he has chosen to take his career focus from performer and producer to manager of new musical talent. He is managing Blush, a five-member, Asian, girl band, Emily Bear, an 11-year-old piano prodigy, Alfredo RodrÃguez, a jazz pianist, Justin Kauflin, a blind jazz pianist and others (James C. McKinley Jr., May 22, 2013, The New York Times article "Latest in His Hyphenate? Manager Quincy Jones, After Years as a Performer-Producer, Now Scouts Young Talent.")
Permanent retirement of the elderly is not Biblical. God teaches us to fight the good fight of faith for all of life and to take periodic rest periods of worshiping Him through service. One Sabbath is to take place for one year every seven years. Leviticus 25:3-7 New Living Translation says, "For six years you may plant your fields and prune your vineyards and harvest your crops, but during the seventh year the land must have a Sabbath year of complete rest. It is the Lord’s Sabbath. Do not plant your fields or prune your vineyards during that year. And don’t store away the crops that grow on their own or gather the grapes from your unpruned vines. The land must have a year of complete rest. But you may eat whatever the land produces on its own during its Sabbath. This applies to you, your male and female servants, your hired workers, and the temporary residents who live with you. Your livestock and the wild animals in your land will also be allowed to eat what the land produces."
Jesus interprets the Mosaic Law and the Prophets in a way that gives God the highest glory and people the greatest good. If they had a one-year Sabbath in the Old Testament, how much better should it be since the birth of the Christian Church?
How to pay for one-year and more of paid employment leave? Here's some ideas:
** All leave balances accrued should be portable from one place of employment to the next.
** Some may prefer increased paid-leave benefits instead of a 401K match.
** Some may prefer increased paid-leave instead of a monetary increase for merit performance.
** Some may desire a customized benefit package.
Elderly people should not be discriminated against or forced out of the workforce nor should elderly who are no longer able to work be denied the help they need to live well. Governor Mary Fallin signed into law HB 1403 The Nondiscrimination in Treatment Act of Oklahoma which protects the elderly, seriously ill and disabled by preventing medical providers from denying individuals life-saving treatment based on their quality of life. The Nondiscrimination in Treatment Act of Oklahoma will take effect November 1, 2013.
Elderly people have more life experience than other human beings. An African proverb says, "When an elder dies it is as if a whole library had burned down."
God wants our library to be full of a life well lived. John 10:10 Amplified Bible says, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."
Perhaps if we listened to and obeyed God about the one-year or more Sabbath, more creative and compassionate solutions to social problems would be found and implemented. Families need more quantity and quality time together. Singles and others need to serve people more. Perhaps we would see more diversity in everyday life. For example, perhaps a way to build more restaurants with African food and food from the peoples of the African diaspora would be in suburb and rural places. More consistent and comprehensive coverage would be found in the media of the disability community, African countries and peoples of the African diaspora. One in six Africans is a Nigerian, but media coverage of Nigeria is rare. Way more coverage exists of the European Union than the African Union.
A Chinese proverb praises the "generous, big-hearted and open-minded." Paid employment leave and diversity exemplify these qualities and are good for everyone.

Elderly And Able To Work For Good
"Yet despite the overall aging of the work force, many organizations are heading in the opposite direction. One executive at a major investment bank remarked with concern that the average age of his firm was 32. This phenomenon is not unique to corporations. Many medical institutions and universities have also shifted to younger workforces. But according to research by Benjamin Jones of Northwestern University, a 55-year-old and even a 65-year-old have significantly more innovation potential than a 25-year-old.
If an organization wants innovation to flourish, the conversation needs to change from severance packages to retention bonuses. Instead of managing the average age downward, companies should be managing it upward," writes Tom Agan for The New York Times article "Why Innovators Get Better With Age."
The Bible does not endorse retiring at age 62 or any other age. Some of the greatest Biblical leaders were elderly people like Moses, Abraham and Joshua. Abolitionist, Women's Rights Activist and Christian Sojourner Truth was giving speeches in her 80s.
Discrimination against the elderly is not the Bible way. The Bible way is periodic rest, not permanent removal from the workforce.
God teaches us to work well and rest well. The Gospel books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are filled with stories of Jesus Christ challenging His Jewish people to practice the Sabbath in a way that provides maximum help for people. Mark 2:27 Contemporary English Version Bible says, "Jesus finished by saying, “People were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of people."

Jiroemon Kimura celebrated his 116th birthday on April 19, 2013, in Japan making him the world's oldest living man according to the Guinness World Records. Guinness World Records says a Japanese woman, Misao Okawa, at 115 is the world's oldest living woman. Jeanne Louise Calment was 122 when she died in 1997 in France; she holds the record for the world's longest living person in modern times. Calment lived two years longer than Moses, but not as long as Abraham who died at the ripe old age of 175.
Not everyone is going to have a long, healthy life. All life is created by God and valuable. "As long as there is one ... oppressed human being in this world the struggle la lucha continua," said Dr. Georgia McMurray, educator, writer and activist who had the progressively degenerative muscle disorder Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
Creyentes (believers) who are reinas y reyes (queens and kings) are called to speak up for the oppressed. Please call Governor Mary Fallin at (405-521-2342) to ask her to sign into law HB 1403 The Nondiscrimination in Treatment Act of Oklahoma which protects the elderly, seriously ill and disabled by preventing medical providers from denying individuals life-saving treatment based on their quality of life.
The devil doesn't like any human being young, old or somewhere in between because we are made in the image of God, his arch enemy. Pastor and U.S. Citizen Saeed Abedini is in his 30s and being physically and psychologically abused in an Iranian prison for his Christian faith which Iran considers a threat to their national security. A campaign to free him by writing letters and signing a petition is being coordinated at http://www.savesaeed.org.
Un dicho (a proverb) says, "La constancia hace milagros." ("Consistency creates miracles.") God does great things through committed people.
Chen Guangcheng is in his 40s. " “I stayed relevant when I was in jail and later under house arrest,” Chen said to me. “I’ll find ways to stay relevant in America, this free country.”" (Lijia Zhang, April 29, 2013, The New York Times, "Banished, but Not Gone.")
May Guangcheng not retire. May he also have a long, successful career in human rights.
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," wrote Christian Minister and Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King, Jr. from his Letter from Birmingham City Jail.
Since China's one-child policy was implemented in the 1970s more than 336 million babies have been killed by abortion; in America since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion 55 million babies have been killed.
Chen Guangcheng, who became blind as a result of a childhood illness and now wears dark sunglasses, is a self-taught lawyer from China who became internationally known for filing a 2005 law suit against a local government for forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China’s one-child policy. Later he endured physical and psychological abuse in jail and in house arrest. Eventually he escaped to the United States and testified before Congress on April 9, 2013, regarding human rights abuses in China.
Professor Elie Wiesel says, "Remember: silence helps the killer, never his victims."
One can be outspoken and sexually victorious. Christopher Yuan is in his 40s. He is also no longer practicing homosexuality. Yuan is a Christian speaker for life and other Biblical issues.

Ten and More Arrows for Life and Joy
"I don't want to help someone who is clearly in need because I am afraid of what it will cost me, and/or I don't approve of their lifestyle;" how many times has this thinking shown up?
I'm so glad God doesn't look at us this way. We are not perfect. Only God is perfect. We do a lot of things that God doesn't approve of, and we all need a lot of help. God helps creyentes (believers) continuously while also making us better. God also doesn't break off His eternal relationship with us because of our behavior. God loves us each and every day forever. Romans 5:8-10 Complete Jewish Bible says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in that the Messiah died on our behalf while we were still sinners. Therefore, since we have now come to be considered righteous by means of his bloody sacrificial death, how much more will we be delivered through him from the anger of God’s judgment! For if we were reconciled with God through his Son’s death when we were enemies, how much more will we be delivered by his life, now that we are reconciled!"
We have known for a long time that families don't spend enough quantity and quality time together, yet resistance exists to making substantial improvement. "Fear is a disease that eats away at logic and makes man inhuman," says Marian Anderson, singer and civil rights advocate. Creyentes are people of faith.
One area of substantial improvement in family life is for countries globally to adopt one-year or more of paid employment leave.
Let's leave behind the one-size-fits-all thinking. Why mandate that one year or more of paid leave has to be taken all at once? Some may want to split it in various ways. One example is a dad works part of the work day, then uses leave for part of the work day while a mom does likewise in a way that their children are never in day care. I had a former supervisor who told me that quality day care is just too expensive especially when first beginning a career. She and her husband solved the problem by he worked days, and she worked nights before their children went to school. She said while this worked economically, physically and relationally it was exhausting. One year or more of paid leave would have helped this creative couple.
Does anyone have employment benefits that include one year or more of paid leave?
One year or more of paid leave is not just for married people and/or parents. While one of my single, Christian friends did not have as much as one year of paid leave, she would accrue a large leave balance so that she could take mission trips to Africa and Latin America. During these trips she would participate in distributing food, clothing, shoes, medical supplies and the Word of God. Singles with and without children can use one year or more of paid leave.
Earning money is essential to survival and progress (cash is efectivo,) and so is voluntarism in America and other countries globally. Former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy said, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country."
One year or more of paid leave should be granted without any necessity of giving the reason for its use.
Sometimes we need long-term paid time to grieve the loss of a family member. In America since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion 55 million babies have been killed. Since China's one-child policy was implemented in the 1970s more than 336 million babies have been killed by abortion; that's more Chinese baby boys and baby girls have lost their lives to abortion than the combined total population of the United States of America and Australia.
A lot of lost family members need to be grieved. Chen Guangcheng is one person helping with the grieving process and working to stop loss of life. Chen Guangcheng is married to Yuan Weijing and has two children. Guangcheng, his family, friends and others have been subjected to persecution. He became internationally known for filing a 2005 law suit against a local government for forced abortions and forced sterilizations practiced as part of China’s one-child policy. Guangcheng's lawsuit was rejected, and he was placed under house arrest.
Guangcheng, a blind self-taught lawyer, surprised China by escaping from house arrest in April 2012 and entering the US embassy in Beijing. A deal was worked out between China and the United States; now Guangcheng lives in New York with his wife and children.
Last Tuesday he testified before a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee On Foreign Affairs about his family's and other people's persecution in China and other ongoing human rights abuses in China. Guangcheng gave Congress a list of 130,000 Chinese officials involved in forced abortions and forced sterilizations.
A Japanese proverb says, "One arrow can easily break; ten arrows do not easily break."
Many people are needed to speak up and to push for the implementation of one-year or more of paid employment leave and an end to all types of abortion and involuntary sterilization.

Hugs and Kisses
Many people meet their spouse through their employment. In April 1939 Charles Drew was on his way to Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to give a speech on his medical research. Drew stopped in Atlanta, Georgia, and met a teacher named Lenore Robbins at Spelman College. They fell in love, and got married by September.
Drew was Robbins' hardworking, handsome honey.
He was also the oldest child of Richard Thomas Drew and Nora Rosella Burrell Drew. Richard Drew was a carpet layer. Nora Drew was a teacher who became a domestic engineer. They had five children.
The Drew family was poor. To help his family Charles Drew got his first job at age 12 delivering newspapers. His entrepreneurial spirit showed up. Soon he had six other boys working for him delivering newspapers.
Later Charles Drew found out that his primary interest lay in medicine. So he went to medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
A Japanese proverb says, "One becomes skilled at the very thing one likes."
At McGill Drew took a class taught by John Beattie, a British doctor who was studying blood transfusion. Before the 1930s people often died from the loss of blood after accidents or surgery. Researchers had been studying how to replace lost blood with blood from other people, but they found that the human body would reject blood that was not similar to its own.
Dr. Karl Landsteiner discovered that all people have one of four blood types, which he called A, B, AB and O. A person who had lost blood would not reject the blood of a donor whose blood matched or was compatible. Landsteiner won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1930.
Yet still often blood deteriorated before a donor with matching or compatible blood could be found. That's the problem Beattie and Drew wanted to fix.
They couldn't solve it. Their professions took them on different paths. In 1938 Drew began a surgery residency at Columbia University's teaching hospital. Drew conducted research and discovered that the plasma part of blood could be dried and stored for long periods of time without deteriorating. In 1939 Drew set up a blood bank at Columbia's teaching hospital using plasma as the basis of emergency blood supplies.
Drew's blood work not only saved lives by making blood quickly available, it also connected him to the love of his life, Lenore Robbins. It was his blood work that he was scheduled to talk about at Tuskegee Institute and met Robbins on the way to his talk.
Drew was a man in demand at home and professionally. Robbins and Drew married and had three girls and one boy. In 1940 Drew became the first African American in the United States to be awarded a doctor of science degree. His thesis was on "Banked Blood."
Drew's former professor, Dr. Beattie, contacted Drew to help out England. World War II had broken out in Europe. Beattie had become Director of Research Laboratories at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, England. Beattie was in charge of blood transfusions for the Royal Air Force, and he was having trouble keeping up with the need for blood. Dr. Beattie asked Dr. Drew to ship 10,000 pints of plasma to him within one month. Dr. Drew did it, and soon after Dr. Drew became the Medical Supervisor of the Blood for Britain program. Dr. Drew standardized procedures for collecting, processing, storing and shipping plasma.
The Red Cross recognized Dr. Drew's merit and appointed Dr. Drew director of a nationwide project to collect blood for the U.S. military. Eventually the armed forces told the Red Cross that it didn't want any blood from black people to be mixed with blood from white people. So procedures were set up to make sure that blood from different races did not mix. Dr. Drew resigned in response to the military's segregation blood policies.
An African proverb says, "A beautiful person will not be perfect."
Dr. Drew was in constant demand at conferences and other meetings. He was driving on his way to give a speech at Tuskegee Institute when he fell asleep and had an accident. Dr. Drew died.
Perhaps if Dr. Drew had gotten a sabbatical from work he would not have died as a result of a sleeping-at-the-wheel car accident leaving a widow and four orphans.
When Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Mosaic law and the prophets, He didn't come to implement a rigid system that put people in bondage and denied them the best of living. The Gospel is filled with stories of Jesus Christ challenging His Jewish people to practice the Sabbath in a way that provides maximum help for people. Mark 2:27 Contemporary English Version Bible says, "Jesus finished by saying, “People were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of people."
How can employers pay for one-year or more of paid employee leave?
** All leave balances accrued should be portable from one place of employment to the next.
** Some may prefer increased paid-leave benefits instead of a 401K match.
** Some may prefer increased paid-leave instead of a monetary increase for merit performance.
** Some may desire a customized benefit package.
What are some other ways to pay for one-year or more of paid leave?
Married people usually have sex in private. A good or a bad sex life shows up in the community through the way a couple responds to their sexual relationship and is either energized or drained by it. Energized people give more love. Drained people cannot give what they don't have.
Perhaps Charles and Lenore enjoyed hugging each other with deep vaginal penetration. Did Dr. Drew give his girls and boy daddy boo-boo kisses and hugs to make it all better?
People who have four or more children are not dumb and a drain on society. Dr. Drew was one of five siblings and had four children of his own. In China Dr. Drew, his wife, Lenore, and Dr. Drew's parents would be subjected to forced abortions and forced sterilizations as part of China's one-child policy.

Estas Loco! (Are You Crazy!) Part II
"I pray to the God within me for the strength to ask him the real questions," a quotation from the book Night by Elie Wiesel. In 2010 when Francis Chan left his mega-church where he served as pastor for 16 years to move to a poor section of Asia with his wife and four children and to give away profits from his best-selling book Crazy Love which has sold 2.2 million copies, some told him something like Estas Loco! (Are You Crazy!)
Yet God doesn't call everyone into Christian ministry to be a pastor or to even remain a pastor for life. God will compel us to change. Acts 6:1-4 New Living Translation Bible says, "But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.”"
Like the apostles gained greater freedom to teach the Word by delegating some of their other duties, Chan has greater freedom to teach the Bible to more people now that he is free from being the pastor of one particular church.
Feeding people and being a pastor are important Christian ministries. Matthew 25:34-40 the Message Bible says, "“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why:
I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’
“Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’"
Ministry leaders are of various types. Ephesians 4:11 Amplified Bible says, "And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers."
Instead of calling people crazy who have the audacity to give up pastorates at the height of their success or to reduce job duties, why not encourage them in the proclamation of the Word of God? Romans 10:13-14 English Standard Version Bible says, "For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?"
Chan is both a Christian speaker and writer. The Apostle Paul was both a speaker and writer. Paul wrote most of the New Testament. Paul spent a lot of time studying the Bible and other reading materials. One of the nice things about the written word is one can stop at any time to pray, think and meditate without being compelled to go onto the next sentence. Use books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, speeches and other media to study the Bible and apply its teaching to everyday living. 2 Timothy 2:15 Amplified Bible says, "Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth."
Intimate study of the Bible should establish that those like Chan are not insane but in tune with the will of God. Chan is now back in the United States after nine months of ministry in Asia. He is focusing on one-on-one discipleship. Civil Rights Activist Ella Baker who helped to found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and had various jobs with the NAACP including national director of branches said, "You didn't see me on television, you didn't see news stories about me. The kind of role that I tried to play was to pick up pieces or put together pieces out of which I hoped organization might come. My theory is: strong people don't need strong leaders." Baker didn't mean that leaders shouldn't be strong but rather all people should be strong, and all people are called to lead. In Genesis God gave all people dominion over the planet. Genesis 1:27-28 Complete Jewish Bible says, "So God created humankind in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. God blessed them: God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air and every living creature that crawls on the earth.” "
Some families will consist of couples of domestic engineers and their spouses some with children some without children, singles, single parents, dual-income couples with children some without children and other types of families. All people can benefit from one year or more of paid leave from employment to help them fulfill God's command to rule the planet. Read my articles "Push for Paid Leave" and "Something Horrible Happened?"
Many women have spoken in favor of paid maternity leave. Dads and moms what do you think about one year or more of paid leave from employment? Singles what do you think of one year or more of paid leave for mission trips, volunteerism and other activities?
Do we even really need to give employers a reason for taking one year or more of paid leave?

Push for Paid Leave
When Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Mosaic law and the prophets, He didn't come to implement a rigid system that put people in bondage and denied them the best of living. The Gospel is filled with stories of Jesus Christ challenging His Jewish people to practice the Sabbath in a way that provides maximum help for people. Mark 2:27 Contemporary English Version Bible says, "Jesus finished by saying, “People were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of people."
Yes, we can have one-year or more of paid leave in America. Just because we have not gotten it in the past does not mean that we cannot get it in the near future. A Japanese proverb says, “Fall down seven times, get up eight times.”
Ida B. Wells was kicked out of a train because she refused to sit in the back. She sued the train company for discrimination and won, but the Tennessee Supreme Court overturned her victory. Ida went on to fight against racism, especially the lynching of African Americans and for women's right to vote. Wells was a married, mother of four children who also helped to found the National Association of Colored Women, National Afro-American Council and Women's Era Club in addition to her crusading journalism.
How did you solve your childcare issues?
Dads who have used paternity leave, what was your experience with employment, family, friends and others? Moms who have used maternity leave, what was your experience with employment, family, friends and others?
What are some positive, novel ways to use one year or more of paid leave?
Many countries in Europe and Asia already have one year or more of paid leave, while America does not. Yet in America we have a large population of Jews and Christians who say they believe in the Bible which teaches a one-year Sabbath every seven years. Long-term paid leave is good for singles, married people, everyone! Read my articles, "Paid Leave Please," "Paid Leave is Good for Us" and "Novel Submission."
Proverbs 25:11 Amplified Bible says, "A word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver." Leave an on-line comment. Recommend this article on Google. Tweet with me (michelelove30).

She said while this worked economically, physically and relationally it was exhausting. One year or more of paid leave would have helped this creative couple.
How did you solve your childcare issues?
Dads who have used paternity leave, what was your experience with employment, family, friends and others? Moms who have used maternity leave, what was your experience with employment, family, friends and others?

Novel Submission
"And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ," writes the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:20-21 New Living Translation Bible. These are verses that are violated in so many ways globally with men and women missing opportunities to help each other.
The New York Times February 27, 2013, article "Desperate Hunt for Day Care in Japan As More Women Work, a Shortage Poses a Threat to Economic Growth," implies that fathers and mothers are not equally participating in the rewards and responsibilities of parenthood, which is a global reality.
The article features the plight of Ayaka Okumura in trying to secure day care for her daughter, Ayane. Ayaka, a manager at an accounting firm, does all the hunting for day care, expresses fret that she did not time her pregnancy to put her name toward the top of day-care waiting lists and even wonders if she should have cut short her legally-guaranteed-one-year-maternity leave to better position herself on the day-care waiting lists, which for Japanese-government-subizied-day-care centers is more than 25,000 long and many private day care centers also have long waiting lists.
No where in the article does it talk about a one-year-legally-guaranteed-paternity leave for Ayane's father and Ayaka's husband, Masanori. A one-size-fits all, unequal, imbalanced approach to childcare puts a strain on marriage and parenting in Japan, America and other places. In America one-year of paid leave is not legally guaranteed. "Vive la difference!" is a French saying meaning, "Long live the difference (between the sexes)." Ayane and others like her are not receiving balanced input from their fathers and mothers denying these children the learning of the difference in the sexes and the enjoyment of a close relationship with both their fathers and mothers. Relationships require both quality and quantity time.
If two or more instead of one were working on child care, maybe Ayane could enjoy two years or more of being cared for by her parents instead of a day care center, and Ayaka, who says in the article, "I'm filled with so much worry, and completely spent," could rest more releasing inspiration for both her marriage with Masanori and her parenting of Ayane. Well-rested wives are more interested in sex than tired wives. Wouldn't it be nice for husbands and wives to sit face-to-face, hugging each other while engaging in deep vaginal penetration, kissing and eye contact on a frequent basis without fatigue?
What about a men's and women's movement pushing for one-year or more paid paternity leave? Some social rules need to be challenged by creative, courageous, compassionate people. A Hausa of West Africa riddle asks, "Why is a man like pepper?" Answer: "Until you have tested him, you can't tell how strong he is."

Also two years or more of paid leave (one year or more for dad and one year or more for mom) is time to work on the heads and hearts of other family members to help with child care. Maybe Ayane and others like her would never have to go to day care before going to school?
The New York Times article says, "Almost 70 percent of Japan's social welfare spending is directed at people 65 or older, while less than 4 percent supports children and families, according to a government-affiliated research group." Elderly family can use some of their free time to help raise younger family. This is an investment that can pay dividends for eternity. International Christian ministers Dennis and Barbara Rainey say, "God designed the family to be a spiritual garden that grows flowers for today and seeds for tomorrow."
Besides day care and paid maternity leave, what are some novel ways to support marriages and raise children?

Paid Leave is Good for Us
Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:17-18 English Standard Version Bible, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
America is a country filled with Jews and Christians, yet we have unpaid leave. Some countries in Europe and in Asia have one-year and even longer times of paid leave available. In the Old Testament God implemented many feasts and Sabbaths. Some of these holidays lasted for more than one day. God is for both work and rest both with generous, abundant economic provision. Read my article "Paid Leave Please."
It is critical that sick leave and other types of leave from work be paid leave, so that both men and women can meet the spiritual, relational and economic needs of their families.
Short-term and long-term paid leave should not be exclusively connected to sickness or disability; these types of paid leave should also be connected to improving relationships and self. Deuteronomy 24:5 Amplified Bible says, "When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year and shall cheer his wife whom he has taken."
America has a nearly 50 percent divorce rate. Perhaps time off to work on self and relationships could improve marriages, families and people and also employment productivity. Troubled relationships take a toll on employment productivity.
Making leave benefits available to one group of people and unavailable to another group of people can arouse jealousy. Jealousy can destroy team work. Proverbs 27:4 Complete Jewish Bible says, "Fury is cruel and anger overwhelming, but who can stand up to jealousy?" Proverbios 27:4 Dios Habla Hoy dice, "La ira es cruel, y el enojo destructivo, pero los celos son incontrolables."
Singles and married people should have access to short-term and long-term paid leave of one year or more not only connected to illness, pregnancy or disability, but also for no reason necessary to reveal. Not only where newly weds taking off from employment, so were others in Old Testament times. Deuteronomy 20:5-8 New Living Translation Bible says, "“Then the officers of the army must address the troops and say, ‘Has anyone here just built a new house but not yet dedicated it? If so, you may go home! You might be killed in the battle, and someone else would dedicate your house. Has anyone here just planted a vineyard but not yet eaten any of its fruit? If so, you may go home! You might die in battle, and someone else would eat the first fruit. Has anyone here just become engaged to a woman but not yet married her? Well, you may go home and get married! You might die in the battle, and someone else would marry her.’“Then the officers will also say, ‘Is anyone here afraid or worried? If you are, you may go home before you frighten anyone else.’"
Let's talk about paid leave. A Chinese proverb says, "Clapping with one hand produces no sound;" it means, "It takes two people to enter a dialogue."
What are your employment paid-leave policies?
A Maasai of East Africa riddle asks, "Who has more courage than a Maasai warrior?"
Answer: "Two Maasai warriors."
Es posible to change paid-leave policies in America with enough support to do so. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Amplified Bible says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good [more satisfying] reward for their labor; For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie down together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm alone? And though a man might prevail against him who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken."
What are some novel ways to increase paid leave?
Does anyone have an employer who allows employees to choose more leave instead of more income as the reward for a positive annual employment review?
Does anyone have an employer who allows them to chose among benefits and customize their benefit package?
God is for both work and rest both with generous, abundant economic provision.
Four-term former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who contracted polio, became paralyzed in his legs and learned to use his hands to drive, said, "We have always known that heedless self-interest was bad morals; we know now that is bad economics."
